Jewelry’s my thang

Filed under:decorative stitching, jewelry, wet felting

I was introduced to feltmaking in 2005 or thereabouts by my best friend Robyn Steel-Stickland, a felting tutor, author and member of this blog’s feltmaking team.

I’m into the slip-slop-slap style of felting, as opposed to the poke-poke-poke. (That’s wet felting instead of needle felting!)

Most recently it’s felt jewelry making that tickles my fancy. I like working small, rolling balls, beads and cords. Call me an impatient crafter. I like to see quick results. Felt making isn’t normally a quick process.

(That doesn’t mean I have stopped undertaking larger projects, of course.)

This necklace combines my handmade polymer clay beads with embroidered felt ball beads. In the coming year I look forward to experimenting more with combining handmade felt and polymer clay in all sorts of projects, not just jewelry.

I’ll share more of my jewelry in future posts.
